Licensing Pets on Maui Maui County Code 6.04.020 requires that all dogs over the age of 4 months be currently licensed. This includes indoor dogs, dogs that are kenneled or fenced, and dogs that *never* leave your property. Dog licenses must be current, clearly visible, and worn by your dog at all times. Dog licenses are not transferable from one owner to the next. Dog licenses are valid for a 2 year calendar year expiring on December 31st of the 2nd year imprinted on the tag. Current costs for licenses are $ 31.00 for intact dogs and $ 7.00 for spayed and neutered dogs. Dog licenses are available through the Maui Humane Society and at County Motor Vehicle Registration outlets. Download or print the License Renewal Form in .pdf format. If renewing by mail, there is a $5.00 processing fee per license. Remember not only is it the law, it can prove to be your pet's ticket home should he stray or become lost. Updated 6/30/08
